Accessibility Statement

What we’ve built in, what still falls short, and how to reach us if the site gets in your way.

Our commitment

A website about children’s bikes should work for every parent who wants one — including those using a screen reader, navigating by keyboard, needing larger text, or who would rather the page held still.

The standard we aim at

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the benchmark referenced by the European standard EN 301 549 and by accessibility law in the EU, the UK and the United States.

Our honest status is partially conformant. The legal, warranty and FAQ pages meet the standard well. The main story page is a heavily animated experience, and parts of it do not — those are listed below rather than glossed over.

What we have built in

Known limitations

The home page tells its story through a scroll-driven illustrated journey. It is the best thing about this site and also the source of most of its accessibility problems. Specifically:

If something doesn’t work for you

Tell us. We’ll fix what we can, and meanwhile we’ll get you the information another way — by email or over the phone. That includes talking you through sizing, or reading the warranty terms aloud.

How this was assessed

Self-assessed by the team that builds the site, against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria. It has not been verified by an independent accessibility auditor. If we commission a formal audit, we’ll say so here and publish what it found.

Scope

This statement covers playwhimsy.com, including the Journal articles. It doesn’t cover the retailer websites we link to, or abbasbinhaider.com.
