Every Whimsy is covered by a limited warranty against manufacturing and material defects. These are the full terms. They apply to bicycles sold under the Whimsy brand and are offered by Abbas Bin Haider General Trading LLC.
What’s covered, and for how long
| Part | Cover |
|---|---|
| Frame | Lifetime — covered for the entire ownership period of the original purchaser, against manufacturing and material defects. |
| Fork | Nine months from the date of purchase. |
| All other original components and accessories | Nine months from the date of purchase. |
“Lifetime” means the original purchaser’s ownership of that bicycle. It does not transfer when the bike is sold or passed on, and it is not a promise that any part will last forever — it covers defects in manufacture and materials, not the ordinary consequences of use.
What’s not covered
- Normal wear and tear.
- Tyres, tubes, gear sets and similar consumables that are used up through normal riding.
- Damage caused by accidents, neglect or abuse.
- Modification or alteration of the original product in any way.
- Direct, incidental or consequential damages, including damages for personal injury, property damage or economic loss.
- Labour charges for replacing or changing over a part.
- Transport charges for replacement parts.
- Plastic and rubber components, and accessories that add to the decorative value of the bicycle.
A bike that has been dropped, dragged, left in the sun and loved roughly is a bike doing its job — but the marks that come from that are wear, not defects.
How to make a claim
- Find your receipt. Proof of purchase is required for every claim, so keep the original dated sales receipt somewhere safe. If no invoice is provided, the warranty is treated as running from the date of supply recorded at the point of sale.
- Bring the bike assembled. A claim needs the bicycle presented in assembled condition, not in a box of parts.
- Start with the retailer you bought from — they hold your purchase record. If you bought online, or the retailer can’t help, contact us at topgear@abhgt.com or +971 4 223 7397 and we will direct you to the nearest authorised service point.
The cost of getting the bicycle to and from an authorised service point is the purchaser’s responsibility.
Repairs by anyone else
If a defective product is repaired by anyone other than an authorised Whimsy dealer or service agent, or if a replacement part not supplied by us is fitted, we are not liable for any damage, failure or loss caused by that service or those parts.
Everyday maintenance is a different matter entirely — adjusting brakes, tightening bolts, pumping tyres, oiling a chain. Doing that yourself is expected, not a problem.
Your statutory rights
This warranty is given in addition to your rights under the consumer law that applies to you, and does not limit or replace them. Nothing here affects the rights you have against the retailer who sold you the bike.
Before that first ride
Not warranty terms, but the things that matter most:
- If you aren’t confident the bike is assembled correctly — brakes and stem bolts especially — have a competent mechanic check it before your child rides it.
- Fit a correctly sized helmet.
- Check the fit as your child grows. A bike that fitted last summer may not fit this one.
- Give it a look-over regularly: brakes, tyres, and anything that has come loose.
